Monitoring of the Namaacha Wind Farm
Between 2018 and 2020, we monitored birds and bats in the area of the future Namaacha Wind Farm in Mozambique. Birdlife monitoring was based on observation points, listening points, and transects, covering the bird community in general, large raptors, waterfowl, and nocturnal birds. Bat monitoring was conducted using active nocturnal listening points located in several locations throughout the study area, automatic detection at fixed points (two meteorological towers), nebula nets, and prospecting for potential roost sites. The monitoring results were intended to inform the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and comply with International Finance Corporation (IFC) requirements, specifically Performance Standard 6.
